The Oak Hill goat program was founded in Pennsylvania over 16 years ago by agricultural author Carrie Eastman (The Energetic Goat, Acres U.S.A.). Selected for authentic conformation, natural browse thriftiness, and gentle dispositions, Oak Hill became recognized as one of the pioneer MGR breeding herds in the eastern United States.
In 2023, the entire breeding herd made the journey south to its permanent home at Barakah Heritage Farm in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Today, we continue steward-breeding two distinct, purposeful offerings under the Oak Hill name:
MGR-registered foundation stock carrying historic Tennessee and Texas bloodlines. Good muscling and meat-to-bone ratio, some with short-fiber cashmere, calm handling, and quiet fence-respecting temperaments.
Intentional crosses combining our purebred Myotonic sires with rare American Guernsey foundation dairy does (Black Locust lines). High-butterfat golden milk paired with meat hardiness.
We maintain this page year-round so buyers always know our current breeding schedule and kid offerings.
In 2026, we welcomed and retained our stunning moonspotted doeling Lula Mae (Buster × Buttercup) as a future foundation doe. No kids were offered for public sale this season. The 2026 season is now closed.
9 does bred for our 2027 kid crop — kidding expected January through March 2027. Priority Reservation slots (max 2 per season) are open now and close the moment the first kid is born. eNewsletter subscribers get first pick after Priority Reservation holders.

Available year-round — applied toward any kid deposit or purchase balance. Fully refundable if unused by the end of the kidding season.
• Applies To: Goat kid purchase deposits and final balances only. Not redeemable for farm services, tours, or consulting.
• Validity Window: Opens when the annual sales page goes live for the next kidding cycle and remains valid until the last available kid of that cycle is sold.
• Cross-Year Flexibility: Certificates purchased in autumn or winter (e.g., fall 2026) are valid through the close of the upcoming kid crop (e.g., 2027 kidding season).
• Once Applied to a Kid: All standard BHF sales agreement terms take immediate effect, including our standard hold deposit policy and wether castration policies.
• 100% Unused Refund Guarantee: If a certificate is never applied to a specific goat hold or purchase, 100% of the funds are refunded directly to the original purchaser at the close of that kidding cycle.
• Standard $50 Hold Deposit: A $50 deposit holds does, bucks, and listed wethers until pickup at 12 weeks. Deposits are non-refundable unless the kid sickens or dies while in BHF care, or BHF cancels the sale.
• Wether Deposit Policy: Wether deposits are refundable under our standard policy if the kid was listed for sale as a wether. However, deposits are strictly non-refundable with no exceptions if the kid was originally listed as a breeding-quality buck and the buyer requested castration prior to pickup.
• Pricing Structure: Males start around $250 (wether packages may be priced lower; high-demand color bucklings are often priced higher). Females start at $325. Purebred kid prices include official signed MGR registration certificates and transfer papers.
• Accepted Payment Methods: PayPal, Zelle, Cash App, Cash, or Postal Money Order. No time payments without prior written arrangement. Balances must be settled prior to or at time of animal release.
• Biosecurity Guarantee: 100% negative annual certified laboratory testing for CAE, CL, and Johne's Disease on all adult breeding stock. Testing certificates are shared openly.
• Herd Animal Rule: Goats are herd animals and thrive in community. We will never sell a single goat to a home that does not already have goats.
• Pickup & Boarding Fee: Kids are ready for pickup at 12 weeks weaning in a safe, covered, well-ventilated vehicle. A $2/day boarding fee plus any necessary veterinary expenses applies if the animal is not picked up within one week of the agreed pickup date.
• Out-of-State Transport: A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI health certificate) is required by law for transport outside of South Carolina, arranged prior to transport at buyer's expense.
• Right of Refusal: Barakah Heritage Farm reserves the right to decline any sale for any reason in the best interest of our livestock. If we decline a sale, 100% of all monies received—including deposit—are refunded immediately.
• Myotonic Trait Disclaimer: Fainting frequency and degree varies by individual animal, diet, weather, age, and environment and is not guaranteed.
• Free Annual Breeding Privilege: Does purchased from BHF may return once per year for breeding to an active Oak Hill herd sire at no stud fee (requires negative CAE/CL/Johne's lab tests within 30 days of arrival).
All live animal sales are governed by our standard written purchase agreement covering health guarantees, biosecurity verification, registration transfer, and transport requirements.
