We started back in 1998 as a horse business.

When weeds started taking over our horse pastures, we got involved with Fainting Goats (come hear the story on our Goat Playtime tour!).  We were one of the first breeders in the northeast and helped to found the northeast show circuit.

From there, we branched out into educational tours and farmstay hosting.

Over the years, we have done everything from heirloom vegetable and herb gardens to heritage chickens, ducks, and so much more.  Click on the dropdown menu to view some of our previous activities.

We are now in South Carolina, semi-retired and focused on livestock, tours and teaching.

Carrie

Founder & Manager Carrie is a lifelong horsewoman, conservationist and wildlife scientist with an interest in carpentry, construction, engines, gardening, farming and goats.  She is a published author with Acres USA and founded the original Oak Hill herd of Fainting Goats. Carrie was one of the founders of the northeast Fainting Goat show circuit, and started the South Mountain Myotonic Goat shows (still running under new management).  Carrie has been working with horses for 50 years, and goats for 15.  She first studied barn management and horse care at the last junior cavalry in America, the New Canaan Mounted Troop.  She has studied Tellington Touch, Centered Riding and many other techniques.  She participated in the volunteer Local Outreach Committe of the Arabian Horse Association. She is fascinated by self-sufficiency, historical farming and gardening methods, and making small farms, and horses profitable, practical and environmentally friendly.  Carrie also co-owns and manages East West Equestrian Arts, based at Barakah Heritage Farm.

Khalil

Founder & former Manager Khalil has retired from farming.
