This scenic guided trail ride (walk/jog) around the preservation farm on gorgeous purebred horses treats horses as conscious beings and partners.
After arriving at the barn, guests sign a release form, weigh in (200 pound limit), and get a bathroom break (outhouse).
Guests are matched with their horse and mount with staff assistance, using a mounting block. You then ride in the enclosed riding area until horse, rider and trail guide are all confident the guest can safely control the horse on the trails (20 minutes to get everyone mounted + riding time). The riding area includes some ground pole exercises for interest and a pretty pond view for pictures.
After completing the supervised riding refresher we head out on the trail.
On the trail, enjoy spectacular views, a shady pine and fern grove with simple log obstacles, some brief jogs, and scenic photo stops, in the company of horses who consider people to be friends.
After trail riding for 40 minutes, guests and horses return to the barn.
Our goal is to offer an interesting and beautiful ride respectful of the horses while doing more than plodding along nose to tail.
Rider weight limit of 200 pounds.
Not for beginners; you must have prior experience and have ridden in the last year.
All of our lessons and experiences conform to current PA Covid19 guidelines. Please follow current guidelines. See pa.gov for details. We ask that guests arrive no more than 15 minutes early and stay no longer than 15 minutes past the end of your activity and stay in the barnyard.
